Jeff Koons
After the end of the earth after
thousands of years, what has been left?
This idea
pops up my mind when I was watching a Discovery Channel’s program about Pompeii ; I wonder if volcanic
eruption, magma, and pozzolana destroyed the whole world, how the civilization after
thousands of years will examine and inspect us? Maybe the people in the future
may recognize the catwalk discovered from ruins as an airstrip. Or, would they
know that the tiger shark in a glass tank of formaldehyde is actually a pricy
artwork in our era? I have set my artwork at the time of thousands of years
later after the end of the day. The parrot man who live in a remote planet have
received the flight vehicle full of information about Earth of thousands of
years ago. Meanwhile, they have discovered Earth, and realized there was
civilization before. Therefore, they have sent many parrot researchers
travelling through thousands of light-years to investigate Earth
During
the archaeological excavation, parrot men have discovered many incomprehensible
items from their prospective. For example, the white arc in Marcel Duchamp’s
famous artwork “Fountain" may be considered popular amusement equipment in
Earth then; while Jeff Koons’ “Balloon Dog” may be regarded by parrot men as
the transportation vehicle. Moreover, the artificial satellite landed on Earth
may be thought to be the equipment for barbecue.
